Manchesters' best kept secret

A colleague of mine suggested we go for some tapas after work and oh boy am I glad we did. This well hidden gemstone, plonked on a back alley, just off Deansgate, lies a Spanish restaurant; El Rincon De Rafa. No word of a lie, it is that well hidden, I was almost dubious as to where my colleague was taking me!

As i walk down the stairs into the basement of the restaurant, i was descended into the middle of Espania - the style, the atmosphere: so authentic. Immediately we were led to a rustic wooden table and given enough time to browse through the menu, we began to order. We were being very optimistic and wanted to order 9 dishes but the waitress warned us that 7 between the 2 of us would be more than enough. We ordered Estrella followed by a generous portion of Calamares Andauza, Salmon in a creamy sauce and Mussels. Chorizo Al Vino, Patatas Bravas, Langostinos Con Bacon and Scallops. The dishes tasted better than anticipated and they came out piping hot. Patatas Bravas was crisp and delicious, Chorizo Al Vino was divine, Scallops cooked to perfection and the rest, need i say more? Scrumdiddlyumptious.

If you happen to be in Manchester and fancy some authentic spanish tapas, look no further. El Rincon is the place to dine!
